The City of St. Anthony, with its small village
atmosphere and community closeness, is surrounded by the Twin
Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. St. Anthony is a first
ring suburb, which neighbors the communities of Minneapolis,
Roseville, New Brighton & Columbia Heights. The Community
is governed by a five-member Council consisting of a mayor and four
Council members elected at large on a non-partisan basis. Council
meetings are held twice a month and they are open to the
public.
The St. Anthony Village Chamber of Commerce is here to foster a
healthy business climate that encourages growth and prosperity in
both business and residential sectors. Its primary function is to
support the efforts of all businesses to attract customers, while
promoting the St. Anthony area as a great place to do
business. St. Anthony is five miles northeast of downtown
Minneapolis and eight miles northwest of downtown St. Paul. The St.
Paul and Minneapolis campuses of the University of Minnesota are a
10 -15 minute drive from St. Anthony.
The City is easily accessible via I-35W, County Road D, Highway 88,
Highway 280, I-94, Silver Lake Road and I-694 and Highway 10 via
Silver Lake Road. The City of St. Anthony Village is situated
in both Ramsey and Hennepin Counties. The uniqueness of our
community can be attributed to beautiful Silver Lake, Francis A.
Gross Public Golf Course, parks and open green spaces, bike trails,
a highly distinguished K-12 independent school district and its
convenient proximity to the major metropolitan areas of Minneapolis
and St. Paul.
Since 1984, the City of St. Anthony has enjoyed a sister-city
relationship with the City of Salo, Finland. Salo, Finland is
located on the south-western tip of Finland, about a 1 1/2
hour’s drive west of Helsinki and 1/2 hour’s drive east
of
Turku. The area boasts magnificent landscapes, breathtaking
seascapes, scenic rivers, lakes, forests, wilds, and expansive
grain fields. An interesting fact about the City of St.
Anthony, they were honored throughout the mid 1970´s and
early 1980´s as one of the first communities in Hennepin
County to recycle.
